What is IPPB QR Cards and How It Works and Replaces ATM Cards

New Delhi: For millions of Indians used to withdrawing cash through ATMs and making payments using debit cards, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has started a new way of retail banking. Carrying a QR (Quick Response) code, IPPB’s new QR card does away with the necessity of both ATM and debit cards for cash and digital transactions.

Unlike a regular debit card where you have to enter a PIN each time you make a payment, QR cards are just scan and pay. For security all it needs is bio metric authentication or your fingerprint scan.
Although both have their advantages, QR cards score over debit cards if banking has to be made accessible for everyone.
IPPB’s QR card doesn’t need any password or PIN to operate unlike debit cards. A biometric verification using your fingerprint does the job.

Ease of banking

A QR card is probably the best option for those who do not want to hunt for ATMs. Just ask your post office, postman or Grameen Dak Sevak (GDS) to come down to your location and give you cash. But doorstep banking from IPPB comes to you at a cost of Rs 25 per transaction. And for digital transactions, the charge is even lower at Rs 15.
For the elderly, the sick or those in remote areas the ease of banking offsets the cost of making the transaction. If you are technologically challenged, the human intervention by a postman makes things easier. The technology being used by India Post Payments Bank itself is quite simple.

How the QR card works

The postman or GDS, whether at your home or post office or any other IPPB access point, scans your QR card using a smartphone app or a QR code scanning machine. Once your credentials are identified, the postman has to make sure that the account holder is making the transaction. ATMs or point-of-sale machines which use debit cards do so by asking you for a PIN. Transactions are denied in case you forget the PIN. It also carries the risk of being misused.
The QR card, on the other hand, is very simple to use. You don’t need to remember your account number or any password. The postman will simply scan your fingerprint, QR code and make the payment.
India Post Payments Bank is also trying to bring the unorganised retail sector on board, which means you will soon be able to pay for your groceries at any local kirana shop using a QR card.

QR card is cheaper

The comparative cost advantage lies not just in the cost of manufacturing a QR card as compared to a chip-based debit card but also in the cost of machines to make such transactions.
A QR card can be scanned easily through a smartphone app without the need of a point-of-sale (PoS) machine.

Now bank ATMs can encash your cheque within one minute, 24x7; Interesting details here

Leading ATM maker NCR Corporation has developed an ATM that can encash cheques - That too within just one minute!
What if the ATM machine near you start clearing cheques and do all other routine works done by humans at banks? Believe it or not, but this has now been made possible. Leading ATM maker NCR Corporation has developed an ATM that can encash cheques - That too within just one minute!
Two private banks have deployed the new ATM as a pilot project in Gurugram and  Bengaluru.
How the ATM clears cheque
First of all, a customer has to connect with 'Live Teller' of the ATM. The new machine lets you do this with just one click. After selecting the preferred language, you will be connected directly to the bank's staff. Once the connection is established, the full control of the ATM will be in the hands of the bank staff.
The bank staff will tell you about the further process. After depositing the cheque at a designated place, you will be asked for authentication document which you will be able to scan in the ATM itself. After the authentication, you will have to sign on the screen. Soon after the verification within a minute, you will get cash in your hands.
While getting the cheque cleared, you will also have the option of selecting the denomination of the currency notes you want to get.
The new ATM can encash both local and outstation cheques if the bank has an arrangement with the another bank. You can take the benefit of the new facility for the entire week 24x7.
Apart from encashing cheque, the new ATM can work as a bank's branch in itself. A customer will be able to withdraw cash even without ATM card with the help of Aadhaar number. For that you will have to do biometric authentication. Cash deposit and KYC update can also be done in the new ATM.

Finacle Training Lesson 2 [Login, Fincore]

FINACLE TRAINING LESSON 2

Recap

In Finacle training lesson 1 we have learned about MENU. A Menu is a shortcut code which we enter in the Menu Shortcut field. If you have not yet read the first lesson please read it first and then come back to this lesson.

In today’s lesson we will see how to login into finacle.
How to login into Finacle?

Today we will see how to login into Finacle. See the below screenshot first.

Our computers at our offices will look mostly like the above picture. There are certain settings to be made to our computers at office before we can start using Finacle. Don’t worry, our Super Stars (System Administrators) will do all the settings for you.

Finacle is also a website like www.gmail.comwww.facebook.comwww.indiapost.gov.in etc. To open any website we need software called as BROWSER. Our computer will have a browser called as Internet Explorer by default. There are other browsers available, like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari etc. But our finacle website will only open in INTERNET EXPLORER. So click on the Internet explorer icon as shown in the above picture.

Since our system administrators have already made all the settings to our systems, after clicking Internet explorer icon you will see the screen as shown below.

Our Finacle website is designed using JAVA software. JAVA is very powerful and there are so many things which we can do using JAVA.  With the help of JAVA there is possibility of hacking systems. Because of this reason some times browser will show warnings to us. But don’t worry it’s our department website. We can trust it.

If you see the above image, browser is showing us a warning. It is saying us not to open the website. But as we know Finacle is safe we can continue to open that website.
So click on the 2nd option in the screen which says “Continue to this website (not recommended)”.

After clicking the 2nd option you will see new screen as shown below.

This is the actual login screen of finacle. In this screen we have to enter our user id and password.
Before migration of our office to finacle itself our system administrators will collect your details in the prescribed proforma and send them to CPC (Circle Processing Center I think). CPC people will create your ID and they will send your ID to your office email. Keep checking your office email till you get your ID. CPC people will set a default password to your ID.
When you are logging in to finacle for the first time, enter your user ID which you received via email,  See the image below.

This is my first login into finacle. When you login with default password Finacle will ask you to change your password. See the image below.

Click on Go and change your password.
But remember you don’t need abnormally complicated passwords like 05621A)$@&*. A simple password like simha%3750 is enough. Keep the password simple and not easily guessable. After you change your password for the first time, you have to logout and login again with the new password.

After logging in with the new password you will see a screen like this. See the picture below.

In this screen you have to select the SOLUTION. In Finacle there are different solutions. Different solutions are used for different purposes. Some solutions are “FINCORE”, “SVS”, “SSOLogin” etc.

FINCORE solution is used at operative post offices to do transactions.
SVS solution is used at CPC for signature and document scanning.
SSOLogin solution is used at CPC to perform day end activities and some other important stuff.
The Point is we have to select a solution before we go to the actual finacle transaction screen.
In operative post offices select FINCORE as solution and you will see a new screen as shown below.
Note:
    1.     Password will expire after 60 days
    2.     In the above screen you can see your last login details. Last time when you login etc will be seen. If you find that you have login at abnormal times change your password immediately.
    3.     Always keep an eye on your last login details.
Now as you can see in the below image this is the actual finacle screen.

This screen has some useful information and there are some points about this screen you must compulsorily know.
Those details we will discuss in the next lesson.

Points to Remember:
    1.     We use Internet Explorer browser to access Finacle website in our offices
    2.     Don’t use complicated passwords and do not disclose your passwords to anyone
    3.     You have to change your password after every 60days.
   4.     You have to choose FINCORE solution to enter into the actual Finacle home screen and do transactions
